Zayandeh Rood - Summer 2011

Zayandeh rood means lively river. Sadly, this beautiful river has been dried in past three summers. I took these pictures in July 2011 in Esfahan.

اصفهانم، اصفهان زیبا، چه دلتنگت بودم وحالا اینجا هستم... دردامنۀ زیبایت به قامت پرشکوه کوههای سربه فلک کشیده ات چشم دوخته ام. چه با ابهتی وچه مردم فقیری را در دل خود جا داده ای مردمی فقیر که اتومبیل های گران قیمت و براق می رانند و بوهای خوب می دهند و هر شب درستوران های بسیار گران غذاهای درجه یک میخورند. چقدر همیشه و تمام عمر دلتنگ تو بوده ام دلتنگ کوچه های خاکی و پیرمردهای ثروتمند دو چرخه سوار و اسب های چشم بستۀ درشکه های سنتی که خستگی ناپذیر زیباترین میدان دنیا را هر روز دور میزنند... اینجا نشسته ام و فکر میکنم که چرا و کی و به چه دلیل بیهوده ای تو و لحظه های درتو زیستن را از من گرفتند. گاهی حس میکنم مرا فراموش کرده ای و با نگاهی غریبانه مرا بر انداز میکنی و هیچ چیز به اندازۀ این احساس اندوهگینم نمیکند. شهر من خاک من مرا یاد کن و بپذیرم. چنان که توان رفتنم نباشد وبرای همیشه در این گودال زیبا که روزی زاده شدم بمانم و کوله بارغم غربت نشینی را زمین بگذارم. اصفهان من، اصفهان زیبا...

Before The Beginning

A confusion sounds, an uncertain clarity.
Another day begins.
It is a room, half-lit,
and two bodies stretched out.
In my head I am lost
on a plain with no one.
The hours sharpen their blades.
But at my side, you are breathing;
buried deep, and remote,
you flow without moving.
Unreachable as I think of you,
touching you with my eyes,
watching you with my hands.
Dreams divide
and blood unites us:
we are a river of pulsebeats.
Under your eyelids the seed
of the sun ripens.
The world
is still not real;
time wonders:
all that is certain
is the heat of your skin.
In your breath I hear
the tide of being,
the forgotten syllable of the Beginning.
